How these years were set
Release years here come from our own catalogue, item by item, and every one is marked on the page as verified or not rather than being presented flatly as fact.
There is no Voltron equivalent of the year-by-year checklists the other HERO80 sites lean on. Matchbox and Panosh Place shipped across 1984 to 1986 without the wave headings a collector database can date, the Japanese Popy and Bandai releases run on their own calendar, and the modern lines are dated by their own solicitations. So where a year is uncertain here it says so, and where two sources disagree the disagreement is published rather than averaged away.
The line ran on into 1988 with a short Europe-only wave, and the archive holds only two of it, below the 8-figure floor these pages need, so there is no 1988 page yet. Later eras are not broken out by year at all: roughly half the catalogue carries no release year and the modern lines are the half missing it. Those are browsable by maker and line, or by character across all of them.
