Coran is credited as an ambassador figure in the 2011 sequel series Voltron Force, voiced there by Ron Halder rather than Peter Cullen; this site has not yet pinned down a confirmed screencap of him in that era.
He is introduced on screen in Escape to Another Planet, the episode that brings the five explorers to the Castle of Lions. He is called a diplomat there rather than a strategist, and it is Coran, not Allura, who hands the newly arrived crew their Voltron Force uniforms and walks them through where Haggar hid each of the five lions.
